The Corny Dog Kicks of Our Guide To The Must-Eat Foods of The State Fair of Texas.
The State Fair of Texas is now officially underway, and we here at Central Track want to make sure your experience in Fair Park is a pleasurable, easy, and maybe even cost-effective one. So, every day until it closes on October 21, we'll be telling you all about one of the many worthwhile food items the State Fair boasts — what it is, what it looks like, where to find it and how much it costs. Y'know, the important stuff.
Day 1: Fletcher's Corny Dog.
Was there any question about what we'd highlight on the first day of this 24-day project? Of course not. This is the big State Fair of Texas food icon. Fletcher's first introduced these delights at the Fair way back in 1942. Meaning? This year is the corny dog's 70th birthday!
He looks pretty good for his age, we think!
What is it? A beef wiener poked with a wooden stick, battered in cornmeal and deep fried until golden brown. It's amazing.
Where can you find it? There are several locations throughout the grounds, but the big one is is located directly in front of Big Tex.
How much does it cost? 10 tickets (the equivalent of $5).
