Kick Off Your Shoes for Yeasayer!
It's midway through the week already, and I hope that you're thinking of the all the partying you're going to do this weekend. Well, with Yeasayer at the House of Blues tonight, why wait? Labor day threw off this whole week anyways, so it's only fair that you get a free pass. Other than that, the Cowboys are back! Watch them physically exert themselves while you sit comfortably at the Granada! Order a few drinks! You've earned it!
Yeasayer at House of Blues
When they're not frolicking in the woods and slapping war paint on their bodies while becoming one with the moon, Yeasayer also occasionally makes albums for the flower children of the world to dance to while barefoot. Their latest album, Fragrant World, is the logical next step after an album as dance-oriented as Odd Blood, with a more experimental sound.
Cowboys vs Giants Watch Party at Granada Theater
New Yorkers must be shorter than most people, because, frankly, their “giants” aren't all that tall. I mean, really, your tallest player is six-foot-seven? Hardly giant material. Any person wearing a set of platform shoes could be six-foot-seven! Anyway, the first game of the season is tonight, and keep your fingers crossed that the Cowboys squash the Giants for the infraction of lying about their heights.
Bowling for Soup at Hailey's
Who else would think to title their ninth album The Great Burrito Extortion Case? Mozart? Bach? John Cougar Mellancamp? Nope, that little joke is the territory of Bowling for Soup, the tongue-in-cheek band that took MTV by storm in the mid-aughts. Fun Fact: The Great Burrito Extortion Case is also the name of the film noir I'm currently writing.
Edgar Gomez Spring/Summer Preview
The Dallas designer will be showing a bit of the fashions from the upcoming seasons (spring and summer), so I guess that rule about wearing white after Labor Day shall be temporarily disregarded. The event promises cocktails and canapes, which is sure to get some extra butts into the seats.
