The Kessler Theater Announces The Inaugural Oak Cliff Music Festival.
It recently came to our attention that, in the first six months of our Buzz Rankings column alone, no fewer than 360 Metroplex area bands that have received some sort of press locally.
That, we think, speaks volumes about the current strength of the DFW music scene. But it has also probably helped extend the quote-unquote festival season well past Labor Day.
I mean, let's face it: There are a ton of festivals coming up. There's this weekend's Hot Wet mess, next weekend's Untapped Festival, the Index Fest at Trees, Bryan Street Tavern's Big Fucking Anniversary Show, the Fort Worth Music Festival and the Stockyards Music Festival, all of which are set to take place in the coming months.
And now we can add to that list the inaugural edition of the Oak Cliff Music Festival.
So far the show, which will be held at the Kessler Theater on November 3, has announced performances from Carolyn Wonderland, Alejandro Escovedo and Joe Ely as part of their initial festival offering. As the festival's official website is still under construction, we expect several more names to be announced as the date approaches. We feel like we can safely predict that more than a few locals will be added to the bill as well.
Organizers have said tickets that will be $12 in advance and $20 at the door, so start setting aside some dough, unless you're 10 years old or younger, in which case you'll be allowed in for free.
