A Belgian Waffle Food Truck Ditches Austin in Favor of Dallas.

The Dallas food truck scene kind of pales in comparison to the Austin food truck scene (it helps that they had a head start), but, nonetheless, this much is certain: Dallasites don't really care because we love the crap out of food trucks anyway.

Still, this is kind an interesting twist on the Dallas-versus-Austin food truck debate (which we readily admit Dallas is losing badly): The once-Austin-based Belgian waffle food truck, Belgian Waffle Co., this week ditched its Austin home to give things a go up in Dallas. As of Wednesday, the truck was already popping up at various locations around town.

Their reasoning? Well, that the Austin food truck scene is just too cluttered, leaving up-and-coming trucks like this one to fight for scraps at food trailer parks. And, no, that's not what Belgian Waffle Co. wants to do.

“We opted for a truck so we could be mobile instead of [stuck] a fixed location,” the proprietors of the truck say in the announcement of their move.

So what does this mean?

That the expanse of Dallas and its way-too-long wait before approving food trucks is finally starting to pay off for the city?

That's probably a reach. But, hey, it's a start.

Plus, the Belgian Waffle Co.'s menu looks pretty awesome. We hear they're now offering waffle sandwiches now, too.
