Guitar In Hand, Gary Clark Jr. Closes Out KXT's Barefoot at The Belmont Series in Style.

Under overcast skies and perched on a chair before the city's most dramatic backdrop, Austin bluesman Gary Clark Jr. closed out KXT's Barefoot at the Belmont series in dramatic fashion last night.

It was an inspired performance from the long-recognized — and oft-described as prodigious — 288-year-old blues guitarist, to be sure. That's mostly because, as if anyone in attendance still needed convincing of as much, Clark only needed his guitar and his person to rile up the crowd. Later in the evening, he'd make his way to downtown Dallas and play with a full band as he'd surprise the attendees of the Trophy Wives show at City Tavern by joining those players on stage. But at the Belmont, things were far more low-key. And perhaps more enthralling as a result.

Sure, the sun may have set on KXT's summer concert series as it set on Dallas last night. But, thanks to Clark's performance and the moving setting of his show, area music fans will no doubt be eagerly anticipating the event's inevitable rise down the line once more.
