We Promise, We'll Only Ask You To Get Us Coffee If You Were Already Getting Some Yourself.
Yesterday afternoon, we said goodbye to the first of our three summer interns to head back off to school.
Melanie Shafranek, who produced 22 bylines for us this summer and contributed photos for at least a dozen other articles, will be spending the next few days at home, packing up for her return to Indiana University next week.
Gotta say, we were sad to see her go. She did some great work this summer, and we're super thankful for her efforts.
Fortunately for us, though, the other two members of our inaugural intern class, Taylor Cleveland and Chelsea Upton, have already agreed to stay on with us in various capacities moving forward.
Still, with Melanie's departure, we're now officially back in the market for some more intern assistance.
And, hey, maybe you're up to the task? If you are — and if you know you can get a college credit in exchange for your services — then we'd love to hear from you.
This fall, we're specifically looking for photography and editorial interns. The ideal candidate is someone who's not just interested in area culture (music, nightlife, fashion, restaurants, bars, etc.), but also a little familiar with it. Candidates must be free to venture out on assignment at least one night a week, while also spending 10 to 15 hours a week in our East Dallas workplace.
We can almost certainly promise you that it's a good time, too. Just now, we asked Taylor for a few words to describe his experience this summer.
“Fucking amazing!” he said, after spending all of two seconds searching for the right words.
So, well, there you go.
If you're interested, hit me up with an email by Friday, August 17, that includes some writing and/or photography samples, plus a quick note on why you think you'd make for a good choice. We look forward to hearing from you!
