Scenes From This Past Weekend's Pancakes and Booze Art Show.

It's been four days, and yet here I sit, still in a pancake coma. That's because, over the weekend, Dallas served up the good stuff. Yes, fluffy buttermilk pancakes made their mark on Deep Ellum.

On Friday, the Quixotic Theater hosted the Pancakes & Booze Art Show. Now traveling the U.S., the famous Los Angeles underground exhibit brought out over 75 Dallas artists, some live body painting, a little music by DJ SpaceChase and even an all-you-can-eat (albeit one at a time) pancake bar.

For $5, it was well worth the cover and the time spent standing in line to get in. It helped that the art was up to par as well. There was also a good variety of work, from graffiti to heavy oil paintings to large scale wall murals. People were buying the art, too, and taking time to mingle with the artists. It was just a great vibe. And the never-ending flow of food and booze seemed to add to atmosphere.
