Like pretty much every Thursday in the history of ever, there are a lot of things worth checking out tonight. Luckily, if you time it out right, you can make a crawl out of tonight's offerings and hit several of them up. Start your evening off by partying with pooches at the Palomar, then cruise over to the Belmont Hotel in time to catch an intimate solo set by Polyphonic Spree's Tim DeLaughter. After that, you should still have time to make it out to the Granada or the House of Blues in time for the shows there. And, hell, then it's off to last call, right?

It's refreshing to see how much of a humbling experience performing a solo acoustic set can be for a guy like Tim DeLaughter, who has routinely commanded a 20-plus member backing band for over a decade. But he's only just begun dipping his toes into these waters, performing solo for the first time ever back in February.
El-P at the Granada Theater
Throughout his 19-year career, El-P has been relentless in his penchant for pushing hip-hop's boundaries, all the while shunning the restraints of corporate rap and its promises of more mainstream success. Nevertheless, he's remained one of alternative rap's biggest driving forces and one of the most respected producers and artists going. Oh yeah, he's a pretty good interview, too.
The Dan Band at House of Blues
The Los Angeles nightlife scene staples The Dan Band first hit the national radar after appearing in a handful of Todd Phillips comedies. Dan Finnerty and his band of cronies rely almost solely on their one bit of re-appropriating female-fronted pop songs, most notably their f-bomb-laden rendition of “Total Eclipse of the Heart” that appeared in 2003's Old School.
