Snag A Blackstone Rangers Cassette At Bryan Street Tavern.

Is it like six months past the point when it was acceptable to make a Rebecca Black joke? After all, it is Friday. And you should probably be getting down. There's plenty to do this evening. That Blackstone Rangers EP we've been hyping finally earns its release tonight at Bryan Street Tavern, several quality bands perform over at Trees, a raunchy play is running up in Addison and an afterhours silent disco winds things down over at The Green Elephant.

Blackstone Rangers at Bryan Street Tavern
We've been spinning that new Blackstone Rangers EP pretty religiously the past week. It's a really nice breakout recording for the trio, who did a nice job trying to capture the noisiness of their live shows on this release. We also hear they've still got a few remaining copies of those limited edition blue cassettes up for sale at this show.

What Made Milwaukee Famous at Trees
The Schlitz-loving Austin band What Made Milwaukee Famous brings their Spoon-meets-Dr. Dog-inspired jams to Trees. Joining them on the bill are locals Burning Hotels and fellow Spoon disciples Spookeasy, as well as Austin's Burgess Meredith, all three of whom have played very well-received sets at La Grange in the past month or so.

2 Couples 2 at Stone Cottage Theatre
Maybe the fact that we giggled so hard at the phrase “a couple of exposed butts” while reading the synopsis of 2 Couples 2 means we aren't quite mature enough to handle it. But if an R-rated stage production involving partner-swapping, affairs and homosexuality is what gets you going, this one has been getting some pretty nice reviews.

Yo Gotti at House of Blues
One of the dozen or so rappers to derive part of their stage names after former New York Mafioso John Gotti, Yo Gotti sets himself apart just a bit with his blend of styles. His music features elements from the No Limit generation of Southern rappers, the N.W.A. flavor of West Coast gangsta rap and the Dirty South stylings of outfits like Three 6 Mafia, who coincidentally also hail from Memphis, where Yo Gotti is from.

Silent Disco at The Green Elephant
Like most everybody no doubt does, we like to play a fun game when we go to silent discos. We take our headphones off, do a quick scan of the room and try to guess which people are dancing to the same music. To those who have never been, everybody who comes gets a pair of headphones with which they can switch between three separate live DJs.
