Reason No. 629 Why Dirk Nowitzki Is Cooler Than You.
Listen: No one's going to blame you for skipping Saturday night's concert from The Avett Brothers at Grand Prairie's Verizon Theatre on Saturday night. The stompin' folk-rockers have been through town, like, half a dozen times since they released their last record, 2009's I and Love and You.
If you're a fan and you felt like you'd been there and done that, then fine. No big deal. Totally within your rights.
But — and we hate to be the ones to break it to you, really — but you might have made the wrong call on not attending this particular show. Especially if you also happen to be a fan of the Dallas Mavericks. That's because, at the end of the band's set, the Avetts were joined on stage by a guest tambourine player for their song, “I Killed Sally's Lover.”
It was some seven-footer named Dirk Nowitzki. Maybe you've heard of him?
Fortunately, thanks to the Internet, you can relive the moment you missed and pretend like you were there. Those people who videotape entire shows instead of actually watching them? Maybe they're not so bad after all.
