Get Your 3-D Gatsby On.

So Baz Luhrmann has a new movie coming out. It's set in the roaring '20s and is based off the famous novel The Great Gatsby. Oh, and it's going to be in 3-D.

Yeah. You read that right. The Great Gatsby is coming to screens as a 3D movie. How? Why? I don't know, but the film's just-released trailer does hold some answers.

First off, it's a great trailer. Then again, you'd have to actively try to make a terrible trailer out of all that gorgeous art deco footage full of beautiful people and amazing costuming.

Luhrmann nails the trailer soundtrack, too, which is unsurprising given his track record. He's a deft hand, mixing contemporary music with anachronistic setting. The Kayne West, Jay-Z and Frank Ocean track “No Church In The Wild” leads off the trailer and helps hype up the scenes of partying and revelry as we build up to a climactic reveal of the mystery man in question: Gatsby.

We're also introduced to a couple of characters along the way, including our narrator and everyman in the picture, Tobey McGuire. I'm not sure why, but he seems like he'll make for a very excellent Nick Carraway.

Also, we also get introduced to our Daisy, played by Carey Mulligan.

The trailer then switches into exposition mode and we get a rough cut of the film's story arc, all set against a howling Jack White. He's covering the U2 song “Love is Blindness.” As the song and trailer hit the crescendo, you can't help but get a bit of a chill.

You feel the storyline the trailer teases for you.

Yes, this trailer glitters and shines. It's everything a trailer for a movie set during this time period should be.

The 3-D will probably be really nice, too. Luhrmann has such a strong eye for visual detail that it'll make everything even more eye-catching. The dance numbers, which you get a taste of in the trailer, should be fantastic with that added dimension.

Then again, there's often a lot of spinning in his movies. So, with that extra dimension, prepare for a little motion sickness, too.
