Snark It Out With Brian Posehn at Hyena's Comedy Club
Tonight, Dallas gets a little uncouth thanks to comedian Brian Posehn, who will be sure to delight us with tasteless jokes and dry observations at Hyena;s. If you've had your funny bone surgically removed, though, you'll still have plenty of other options for the evening, including Jane's Addiction at McFarlin Auditorium, which will no doubt be pretty wild, or maybe a broadcast of This American Life Live! at AMC Northpark. Or you can always go Barefoot at the Belmont with Will Johnson and Doug Burr.
Shuttle at Rio Room
Back when he was just a man in Boston with a laptop and a few remixes, Shuttle (aka Passion Pit drummer and Dallas dweller Nate Donmoyer) caught the ear of the British Label Ninja Tune. Since then, he's toured with acts such as Diplo and The Field, accumulating a strong fanbase for both his original work and his impressive remixes, which include songs by Daedalus and The Death Set.
Jane's Addiction at McFarlin Auditorium
“I've never heard of them.” says my imaginary friend that doesn't exist. I couldn't find anyone in real life to say that, due to the fact that their hits are still on heavy rotation at alternative rock radio stations, not to mention the fact that Dave Navarro's pierced nipples are also still on heavy rotation — and on VH1, no less. Are these guys truly inescapable? Also, does Navarro scorn traditional clothing in favor of leather vests?
Grupo Fantasma at Kessler Theater
Grupo Fantasma is loosely translated into English as either “phantom group” or “those who have won a Grammy.” The Latin funk group has received no shortage of praise since their inception, and their relentless tour schedule doesn't seem to be wearing them down. Hell, even Prince is a fan, as he's been known to use the group as his backing band.
Will Johnson and Doug Burr at the Belmont
The KXT concert series continues with Will Johnson of Centro-matic and local folk crooner Doug Burr. Since the weather is nice, it's the perfect time to bust out those jean shorts and enjoy an outdoor show.
This American Life Live! at AMC Northpark
As part of Ira Glass' continued effort to prove to America that he has a face that can transcend radio, his long-running show will perform live in NYC, while theaters around the country broadcast the event. The show will feature readings from Glass, as well as performances by a variety of entertainers, including some music from OK Go and a sketch by comedian Tig Notaro.

I'm pretty sure that Brian Posehn is very familiar with people stopping him and saying, “Oh, you're that guy! From that thing!” Chances are, if you've ever picked up a remote control in your life (excluding the “I don't even watch TV” crowd, who you know are all up on Hulu when nobody's watching), you've seen his bespectacled visage doing bit parts and cameos. And this is a good thing, because Posehn's deadpan delivery is hilarious. You might remember him from The Sarah Silverman Show, or possibly from his role as Cousin Larry on the Disney Channel show Kim Possible. (Don't pretend you didn't watch it. Oh, you really didn't? I'll just sit in this corner, then.)
