Creed Will Totally Take You Higher Tonight at the Verizon Theatre. Really!
If you're not already a registered for the review site Yelp.com, now might be a good chance to sign up. Not only will doing so enable you to RSVP for the style event going on over at Toni and Guy today, but you'll be prepared in advance for the site's Passport to Deep Ellum deals going on all next week. Speaking of meal deals: Fair Park eatery The Meridian Room also has nice a nice deal Wednesday nights, where their entire menu is offered up at half-price.
After getting fixed up and fed, there's plenty else to do tonight. You can enjoy the outdoors with a Gipsy Kings show, get all nostalgic for Social D's cowpunk leanings or go all incognito to that Creed concert.

Gipsy Kings at ATTPAC's Strauss Square
The Gipsy Kings, who have released some of the few Spanish albums to achieve gold record status in the U.S., perform under the stars tonight at the Strauss Square portion of the AT&T Performing Arts Center. Picnic baskets and alcohol are now allowed to be brought into the outdoor performance space, so feel free to get your party on tonight.

Social Distortion at House of Blues
Despite a revolving door of backing musicians and struggles with addiction for the group's only constant member, frontman Mike Ness, Social Distortion has managed to survive the fickle punk scene for 30-plus years. Credit it to their mix of hardcore punk, rootsy blues-influenced outlaw country and an unrelenting desire to go out on their own terms.
Creed at Verizon Theatre
Last week, Chuck Klosterman wrote one of the most definitive pieces on the bands Creed and Nickelback that we've ever read. In his Grantland essay he attempts to deconstruct how these bands can be so universally hated and undeniably popular — while going so far as to attend concerts by both bands in the same night. Klosterman, who willingly admits his favorite band of all time is KISS, serves as a good example to those of us who are way too ashamed of our guilty pleasure bands to admit we might have even the smallest desire to see a band like Creed in concert.
