A Celebration For The Independently Owned and Operated.
On Saturday afternoon, hundreds showed up to Good Records on Lower Greenville — and not just for the cheap beer, which was bottomless with the purchase of a $5 cup featuring graphics that announced the event's joint celebration of the 5th annual Record Store Day and the adored brick-and-mortar shop's 12th birthday.
There was plenty of music — both in the form of limited edition, special to Record Store Day releases and in the form of live performances from the likes of Stardeath & White Dwarfs, Switchfoot, Civil Twilight and the Ting Tings — but there were other local business attractions onsite, too, including the Doughboys food truck, the Vintagemobile and Central Track food writer Melissa Mack's very own vintage housewares truck, Sugar Derby.
It was a beautiful day — weather-wise, sure, but also because to so many came to the event to happily show their support for such strong, independently owned businesses. It was inspiring, really.
