Stay Positive With The Hold Steady At The Palladium.
There's something about spring weather that just exudes baseball season. So head out to the ballpark tonight for some dollar dogs before excruciating summer temps make it unbearable to sit in the bleachers. If $7 bottles of domestic beers aren't really up your alley, the Meddlesome Moth continues serving up Texas brews tonight as part of their second anniversary celebration. Later, The Hold Steady bring their grandiose roots rock numbers to the Palladium, where they'll surely thrive in the big open ballroom space.
The Hold Steady at The Loft
After watching The Last Waltz on DVD, Craig Finn and Tad Kubler were inspired to form a band that would tap into that dying brand of roots rock. Since then, the resulting outfit, The Hold Steady, have released five LPs of arena-sized working-class tunes, settling into a niche between the Bruce Springsteens and the Kings of Leons of the world.
April Ale Week at Meddlesome Moth
Meddlesome Moth's week-long celebration of their second anniversary continues tonight with the bar tapping a pair of Houston-made pale ales in Saint Arnold's Endeavour IPA and Karbach Brewing Company's cask-conditioned Rodeo Clown Imperial IPA.

It's been roughly two months since Zhora made their live debut at pretty packed-out La Grange. Your next opportunity to catch what some still consider to be the better half of the Ishi split is tonight at The Double Wide, where frontwoman Taylor Rae will ensure the room dances their asses off as much off stage as she does on it.
The Boxer Rebellion at Dada
Formed by Tennessee-native Nathan Nicholson on vocals, Australian guitarist Todd Howe and Brits Adam Harrison and Piers Hewitt (on bass and drums respectively), The Boxer Rebellion have been kicking around the U.K. for the last decade, releasing moody, sweeping tracks a la late period Radiohead with slightly less ambition. The band performs at Dada tonight with openers Canon Blue.
“Wayne White: I Say a Lot of Things” at Marty Walker Gallery
Co-creator of the surrealistic, Emmy-winning children's show Pee Wee's Playhouse Wayne White has also made a name for himself in the art world for his series of re-purposed thrift store paintings turned to genuine works after plastering text atop them. The concept is simple yet effective as those who have seen the recently-released documentary Beauty Is Embarrassing, which debuted at SXSW, will quickly let you know. An installation of his murals and paintings is currently on display at the Marty Walker Gallery (open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.).
