The Pups Were On Parade At The Deep Ellum Arts Festival.
This past Sunday at the Deep Ellum Arts Festival, one of the main attractions for the day was a pet parade. Thankfully, they managed to squeeze the parade in before the really heavy rains rolled in that afternoon.
As the parade took place, the rain drizzled off and on, but it was nothing too serious. And the crowds were pretty decent, too, considering the impending storms. That said, cats don't do well on leashes — and not many other animals do — so it was pretty much all dogs. There were dogs with talent, dogs with personality and dogs in costume.
At the songwriters stage around noon, organizers gathered all the pets. They proceeded to parade them past a trio of judges on the stage. First, the pets were judged on personality. Then? Talent. Lastly? Costumes.
The judging was probably as arbitrary as these things can be. The real winners were the audiences who get to witness all that adorable animal action.
