AT&T Performing Arts Center Trots Out New Ping Pong Tables.
Today, the AT&T Performing Arts Center premiered their brand new ping pong tables. The tables will be up for public use, weather permitting, on a permanent basis in the Elaine D. and Charles A. Sammons Park. Starting tomorrow, the tables, which today were placed a little closer to the street, will be located under the shade canopy near the reflecting pool in Sammons. You'll check out the paddles and balls at the Winspear desk; they're free to rent in exchange for your ID.
To help celebrate the launch, AT&T PAC had two cast members from the Broadway musical In the Heights, which runs this weekend in the Winspear Opera House, come out to play ping pong with the public. There were also food trucks parked across the street and tables set up near the ping pong tables so lunching downtowners could come out and play and watch.
All in all, it should be a great addition to the downtown parks scene, and it was really nice seeing a large crowd out sharing public space and having a good time in this incredible weather.
