Get The Jump On Your 3/18 – 3/24 Plans.
The cluster that is SXSW finally winds down today, and Bro Fest, for the fourth year running, is Dallas' way of unofficially marking an end to the festivities as most of the 29 bands playing the fest today at Dada are making their ways home from South By. Downtown, there's another competing fest, DXDW, which aims to showcase more local talent.
Later on this week, a pair of rad art exhibitions involving artists with local ties will begin, and a former favorite area band will play their first show in nearly two years in Deep Ellum.
So let's start planning…
Sunday (3.18)
Bro Fest at Dada and La Grange
29 buzz bands, three stages, one hot ticket.
DXDW at City Tavern
Daniel Hart headlines this post-SXSW event along with nine other Dallas acts.
Monday (3.19)
Nico Vega at Prophet Bar
Fans of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Karen O will really dig this alterna-punk trio.
Tuesday (3.20)
$5 Tuesdays at Screen Door
The modern southern kitchen offers up several food and drink options for just $5 each, including the refreshing sounding blueberry vodka lemonade.
The Big Movie at Magnolia Theatre
This week's classic is 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Thursday (3.22)
“Shatner's World” at Majestic Theatre
William Shatner's one-man show features his signature storytelling and a dramatic reading of a song or two.
Tony Bones at TractorBeam Gallery
Bones' street art can be spotted all over town. The now-New-York-based artist returns to town for a proper exhibition.
Friday (3.23)
Young the Giant at Prophet Bar
Morrissey counts himself amongst the young band's fans, so there's that.
Oso Closo at La Grange
La Grange doesn't sell Oso Closo burritos like Chipotle once did, but their tacos are mighty good. Grab a couple at Oso Closo's first show in nearly two years.
Bruce Lee Webb's “New Works” at Magnolia Gallery
The West Village theater will feature the Waxahachie-based artist's latest works of vintage Americana.
Saturday (3.24)
Local Edge Presents: Dovetail at Granada Theater
Salim Nourallah, RTB2, and Menkena open this all-local bill.
Texas Pinball Fest at Hilton DFW Lakes Executive Conference Center in Grapevine
The fest will feature 225 pinball machines all set to free play. Leave the quarters at home!
