Night Two.

Lines, Lines, Everywhere A Line.

As Pete warned yesterday, lines have indeed become the common theme of the weekend. And it should only continue get worse the next two nights. It wasn't long after the Mountain Goats finished up their set on the main stage until nearly every venue reached capacity, including The Labb, whose 300 person capacity was the festival's largest for an indoor stage.

By 9:30 p.m. festival goers had broken off into two strategies:

1) Completely abandoning consulting the schedule, instead opting to simply walk around and choose to go in whichever venue seemed to have the shortest one-in/one-out line, regardless of who was performing inside.

2) Picking the artist they really wanted to see the most in the 12:30 headlining spot and waiting at that venue no matter how long it took to get inside.

For the second group they either made it in early and just put up with whoever the openers happened to be, made it in but missed several bands in the process, or in some cases never made it in at all. Catching sets in four or five different venues was almost completely out of the question.

It's a shame too because those lucky enough to make it into the indoor venues witnessed some pretty special happenings. At one point during their set at Andy's Bar Peopleodian's microphone stopped working which lead to a visibly fed up Ally Hoffman screaming lyrics maniacally at the top of her lungs. It was pure punk rock. Later in the night High Places had the Andy's crowd literally making love on the dance floor, or at least we think that is what was happening. Down the street at The Labb El Ten Eleven was able to incite more moshing than even Bleached achieved the night before. Meanwhile over at Hailey's the Hood Internet turned their stage into an extension of the dance floor, inviting 50 or so in the crowd up to dance. Not to be outdone John Vanderslice insisted the crowd at Dan's Silverleaf hold a dance party of their own after his set.

Thank goodness for the outdoor stages where everybody has an opportunity to enjoy the festival's biggest names, which we also found out last night no longer includes The Jesus and Mary Chain –at least not during the four days everything else is taking place. And while we're giving props we might add that the giant video board next to main stage one was a playful touch.
