The Cosplayers Young And Old At North Texas Comic Book Show’s 3rd Annual MAD for Dallas Event.
Just like every movie isn’t a blockbuster, neither is every comic book event in North Texas. But true comics fans are as quick to embrace the good things even if they are a little niche.
And so it was at the North Texas Comic Book Show’s 3rd Annual MAD for Dallas event this Saturday at the Double Tree Hotel this Saturday. Definitely one of the smaller conventions in the market, this show has always benefited from its close-knit community atmosphere — complete with low ticket prices and free entry for kids 11 and under.
This event was no exception. Attendees could browse the vendor room, mingle with guests from MAD Magazine such as Tom Bunk, Tom Richmond, Kit Lively, David DeGrand and Scott Nickle, and, of course, participate in some cosplay. Per usual, the costume contest was a highlight.
And there may be more to look forward to soon: In January, the North Texas Comic Book Show says it will host its main event in a new, larger-than-ever-before location near Fair Park. It’ll be interesting to see how the move to a bigger venue will change the dynamic of the show.
