Staff
Meet your new best friends.
Pete Freedman // Co-Founder, President, Editor
Pete is the former music editor of the Dallas Observer. His work has been published in Spin, LA Weekly, Village Voice, The Miami Herald, The Toronto Star, Seattle Weekly, Houston Press, Westword, Miami New Times and American Way. The Association of Alternative Newsweeklies has honored both his long-form narrative writing and his blogging efforts. In 2008, NBCDFW.com named him one of the 25 Most Interesting People in DFW, a fact he remains all too eager to bring up at dinner parties.
C. Bruce Willis, II // Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer
Bruce is a local attorney and native of Louisiana. He has experience in print and online media, and has won awards on a national scale for this work. Bruce has experience in starting small to medium size businesses and has held the role of Executive Vice President at an aviation company in the DFW area.
Lenzi Jo Gall // Creative Director
Lenzi is a Christmas sweater- and goofy sock-wearing addict who likes getting paid to be a nerd. Although her roots are in Oklahoma, she can’t get away from the Texan ways (read: Drinking Shiner and shooting whiskey). When she isn’t out on the town listening to music and kicking butt at Big Buck Hunter, she is developing and designing the Central Track website. She likes to sneak away on weekends to go on camping adventures and enter the ‘66 VW beetle that her dad and grandpa restored in a car shows.
Hance Taplin // Art Director
In addition to his work at Central Track, Hance is the creative director for Centre, Dallas’ premier streetwear clothier. When he was seven years old, he appeared in a Pizza Hut ad alongside John Elway. To this day, he still prefers Domino’s.
Jeremy Hughes // Graphic Designer
Jeremy is completely obsessive about organizing things and finding the beauty in details. In the past, he’s done design work for the Granada Theater, Sundown, The Single Wide and The Double Wide. He also can't say no to scotch.
Cory Graves // Staff Writer
Cory is the founder of Subservient Experiment, often regarded as the sixth best music blog in Dallas. He is also a member of the bands Whiskey Folk Ramblers and Mount Righteous. His writing has also been featured in the Dallas Observer and on My Dallas Music. Courtney Love once referred to him onstage as “my fucking therapist,” which he immediately put on his resume.
Mikayla Moyer // Music and Nightlife Writer
Mikayla moved from Chicago to Dallas in 2008 to attend Southern Methodist University. Since moving to Texas, she’s launched her own music blog (LooseLipsMusic.com), worked at an independent record label (Forest Family Records) and learned to love the D-Town Boogie.
Melissa Mack // Food Writer
Melissa is a friend of sugar, fourth meals, last calls, vintage clothes, yoga, dry bars, girly girls and BigTex. She’s an enemy of short shorts, bad breath, PCs, Angry Birds and anyone that tries to pass off Diet Pepsi as Diet Coke. It is not the same! You can find more of her work at SugarDerby.com
Brittany Winter // Fashion Writer
Brittany is a still-life fashion stylist born and raised in Dallas. She went to Parsons School of Design in New York but has been back in D-town since 2006. Things she likes: turtles, funky shoes, good design, rodeos, subcultures, sequins, bright lips, peonies and good macaroni and cheese. Things she dislikes: bugs, bad style, slow drivers and broken hearts.
Blake Panter // Music and Drinks Writer
Blake is a purveyor of the musical dark arts in all its shapely forms. He’s been doing it and keeping it classy since 1986. His is similar to that of a golden retriever, and he’s named it Walter.
