Polyphonic Spree and Trombone Shorty to Christen Deck Park With Free Concert.

Seems like we've been waiting forever for the so-called "deck park" above Woodall Rodgers Freeway -- you know, the one that's now being called the Klyde Warren Park -- to finish up its construction so we can bask in some downtown greenery and finally connect the worlds of Uptown and Downtown Dallas into a singular Supertown.

Fortunately, there's some light at the end of the tunnel: The park will officially open itself up for public use during a two-day celebration to take place during the last weekend in October.

The city's got some big plans for that weekend, too.

For instance? Well, one Owen Wilson, of Bottle Rocket, Wedding Crashers, Zoolander and sometimes-seen-at-the-Starbucks-in-Highland-Park fame, will be on hand both days, serving as the "honorary chair" for the festivities.

Even cooler, though, is this news: On Saturday, October 27, the park will host a free concert on its "Great Lawn," featuring performances from New Orleans sax bad-mother-effer Trombone Shorty and Dallas' own Polyphonic Spree.

Tickets will be limited to just 6,000 attendees so as not to overrun the park with hangers-on. No word yet on how to obtain those tickets just yet, though, other than that they'll be available starting on October 9. So keep an eye and ear out for that news, I guess?

Either way: Pretty cool, huh?
