Yesterday in this space, we talked lovingly about the Prophet Bar's weekly Wednesday night jam sessions, while at the same time noting that last night's affair -- a Go-Go party held in celebration of acclaimed area keyboardist Shaun Martin's birthday -- was going to be something a little different, but no less special.

The event indeed lived up to the hype, too, as Martin and his Go-Go band rattled off an over hour-long set of high-energy Go-Go-inflected covers to a room full of eager, all-too-ready-to-dance fans.

It was a good time. If you weren't there, you should've been.

Good news, though, if that's your case: Martin and his Go-Go band will perform again on Sunday, September 2, at Sandaga 813 in Expo Park.
