Mix It Up With Dallas' Top Barmen At The Chesterfield.

By Cory on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 7:20 AM

We've been pretty much bitching about our lack of sleep due to the glut of too many good shows in town for the better part of the last two weeks. Sorry about that. We promise to finally get some much needed rest tonight.

But not before enjoying some of the many food and drink specials. A few plates full of free sushi should be a nice start. Then a few cheap draft beers at one of our favorite local spots. And a classy cocktail nightcap.

Sounds like just the precursor to our journey to Slumbertown, USA.

And, of course, if you aren't as festival-ed out, there are always worthy acts in town to check out, including the Prophet Bar's epic weekly jam sessions.

The Mix-Off Battle at The Chesterfield
Ask our classy beverages expert Blake Panter to name the most urbane places in town to grab a drink and The Chesterfield, Bolsa, Marquee, Oak and The Usual would all end up on the short list. Eddie "Lucky" Campbell of The Chesterfield, Jason Kosmas of Marquee, Kyle Hilla of Bolsa, Brad Hensarling of The Usual and Abe Bedell of Oak will all be at The Chesterfield tonight for a booze battle royale. Each has mixed up a brand new concoction for this evening's showdown, where the winner will be selected by those in attendance.

Jam Session at Prophet Bar
Every week, Erykah Badu's musical director R.C. Williams and his band The Gritz host a weekly jam session over at the Prophet Bar, which includes an open mic portion where one never knows what might happen. Talib Kweli and George Clinton are just as likely to drop in on the session as members of the Cannabinoids, badass jazz host Shelly Carroll or Dallas' next up-and-coming emcees.

Sushi happy hour at Steel
Every Wednesday, upscale sushi joint Steel offers up hands down the best happy hour value we've ever heard of -- free all-you-can-eat sushi from 5:30 to 7 p.m. They do require a one drink minimum, but, c'mon, you gotta wash down all that free fish with something, right? As you can imagine it usually fills up, so reservations are typically a good idea.

Fun. at House of Blues
When one of your songs is featured in a Super Bowl ad, you pretty much can't help but blow up -- or at least go from being a relative unknown commodity to headlining rooms the size of House of Blues in a matter of just a couple of months. You've for sure heard their song "We Are Young," which was featured in the Chevrolet "Stunt Anthem" commercial that first appeared during this year's big game and has been in heavy rotation ever since.

Texas pint night at Anvil Pub
On Wednesdays, the Deep Ellum pub pours all Texas drafts for just two bucks. Selections from Franconia, Shiner, Real Ale, and Rahr are all typically on tap.
