By Trace McCaslin on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 12:47 PM

Congratulations! You've made it to Thursday, the day of the week best known for being surprisingly busy, shockingly thirsty and perennially just shy of the weekend! This Thursday indeed fits that bill -- and perhaps makes the case that Thursdays should just be officially elevated to weekend status. Seriously, there's lots to do!

Live Fast / Die Slow at Kettle Art
Before Saturday's 45 Fest event at Dada -- where a whole spate of local musicians will gather in memory of gone-but-not-forgotten area punk rocker Frankie 45 -- Kettle Art will host a gallery exhibition and auction tonight where all works on display will be available, fittingly, for $45. Better yet, all the proceeds from tonight's affair will benefit the Deep Ellum Community Association's 45 Fund, which aims to to promote mental health for artists and musicians.

Benny Benassi at Lizard Lounge
DJ legend Benny Benassi is stopping by Dallas and performing at Lizard Lounge tonight with Krewella as part of his Rough Road Bus Tour, which is kind of crazy because it's like, "Whoa, Benassi rides a bus?" DJs! They're just like us! Door are at 9 p.m. and this sucker will just keep going until 4 a.m.

Oil Boom and The Birds of Night at Basement Bar
The local blues rock favorites Oil Boom perform a free show with The Birds of Night (and first opener John Dyer) at Fort Worth's The Basement. Did we mention that it's free?

Air Review and Home By Hovercraft Patio Session at ATTPAC
Dallas locals Air Review and Home By Hovercraft will perform tonight's Patio Session at the AT&T Performing Arts Center and, as usual, this event''s free to attend. It's also BYOB. And it starts at 5:30 p.m.

Godfrey at Addison Improv
Comedian, Vh1 commentator and former 7UP spokesperson Godfrey will be performing stand up at the Addison Improv tonight.
